Promoting Quantum Midwifery and Undisturbed Birth in the Global Village since 2001

Spend 8 days with us on holy ground in Chiapas, Mexico.
During our time together, we will participate in a journey around the Wheel,
exploring the rites of passage that mark the Medicine Gates of Women's Wisdom.

We will gather in the beautiful and sacred city of
San Cristobal de Las Casas, in the Mexican
state of Chiapas. Chiapas is located in
southeastern Mexico, near the Yucatan
Peninsula. San Cristobal is in the highlands of
Chiapas, at about 7000 ft elevation.

OUR PATH OF STUDY

BEGINNING

On our first day together, we will gather in San Cristobal. We will create our
circle, set our intentions, share our spiritual practice. As we collect
ourselves and come present, we now begin to study Women's Mysteries.

BIRTH

We continue our study through Thursday and begin to delve into the realms
of non-ordinary reality. Understanding the brainwave patterns of the
altered state allows us to fully appreciate and facilitate the holistic journey
of pregnancy and birth. It is incumbent on any Wise Woman of
this new millennium to have an understanding of the process and power
inherent in bringing forth life. Here is a new blueprint for giving birth -- a
template forged by women, birthing in their power, and witnessed by
sitting silent at the feet of birthing women. If you wish to give birth,
witness birth, attend birth and/or serve birthing women, come and hear
this holistic model of bringing forth life on the planet.

BLOOD

As the ancestral sex, women have always had within them the complete
components of genetic material to create life. The ovum has 46
chromosomes -- not the 23 we've been taught. This is anatomy fact, not
fiction. We impart factual knowledge, relevant to the balance of power
and the sustenance of life. This information has been shared very briefly
through the scientific community and now we discuss the spiritual and
psychological impact of this knowledge of the female body. Explore why
we are the ancestral sex, and what ramifications this has for humanity.
We study menstruation, conception and fertilization as never before -- in
a way that brings reverence to woman and mankind together.

BECOMING

On Friday, we spiral from Maiden to Mother to Midwife. What does it
mean to be Midwife? How do we reinvent this ancient vocation in modern
practice? Can we sit silent at the feet of birthing women? We will engender
a passionate and serious exploration of midwifery. And here we speak of
midwifery in all its phases -- from assisting a woman as she brings forth new
life to caretaking a woman through her rites of passage. As birthing women
unfold a new template for birth, they seek a new kind of midwife to witness
their journey. They seek a midwife who is, herself, empowered and thus
inspires empowerment in others. Lets travel to the edge and look at
specific, experiential information about a model of care that is ancient but
brought into modern practice. It encompasses what I believe is true
empowerment of families and women. It's not based on diet, yoga or
reading materials. It's not based on testing, ritual or ceremony. It is based
on a holistic and sacred relationship of empowerment between mother and
midwife. This is truly pivotal in midwifery care. If we can understand this,
we can revolutionize midwifery. Today we pay respect to the Birthing
Women of the Universe, and ask to carry the charge of Midwife and see
beyond ourselves.

BUILDING

On Saturday, a day of respect for the time of the Matriarch. The
Matriarch dispenses our planetary resources and serves as
Peacekeeper in a changing world. She does not start conflict;
she follows it. She brings to the table her skills and tools for
group transformation. We honor the coming into Eldership and
begin our preparation for that time. We study rank and power
and privilege. We study conflict resolution and worldwork. We
explore the dynamics of empowerment. We learn to understand
everything on the planet and to meet others where they are. We
visit the realms of intuition and learn to send our visions to the
edge. We balance the power of the center and the edge.

BALANCE

Today we come together on sacred land. We offer ourselves for renewal and
re-consecration. At this turn of the Wheel, we offer prayers together. We will
learn the Tao of Midwifery and use the guiding principles of this wisdom to center
our circle.

And so, the midwife completes her work by doing nothing.
She teaches without saying a word.
Things arise and she lets them come.
Things leave and she lets them go.
Creating but not possessing.
Working but laying no claim.
And when her work is done, she forgets it...
And so, it lasts forever.

BEYOND

This next day we prepare sacred medicine together. As evening falls,
we create Sacred Ritual with mystical plants. The plants teach us to see
our Universe in ways we only imagine. We venture into Other Worlds,
Los Otros Mundos, alone together, to create our alliance with the Great
Mystery. We visit the Center and the Edge and receive the charge to
BE THE MEDICINE.

BONES

On this day we honor the mystery of completion... Death and
dying, rebirth and resurrection. We make our choices and take
our vows, witnessed by each other and the great landscape that
has held us close. We sit together as Changing Women in an
ancient ceremony brought forth in modern time. Our Grand
Mothers and Madronas knew the wisdom and power inherent in
change. We invoke Changing Woman -- and she comes. We
spend time in solitude and then return together to share our
vision. We participate in this ageless ritual, graced and gifted by
earth and time. We ponder the mysteries of the Wheel, the Grid,
the Great Motion. We leave our bones, only to begin again.

BLESSING

Our last day in Chiapas is one of gratitude and
humility for the blessings bestowed upon us.
It is a day of weaving stories, blessing each
other and reflecting on this passage through
the medicine gates. We take our time. We
will visit the Luna Maya Birthing Center and
then, tomorrow, head home with full hearts
and full baskets.
