Whapio Diane Bartlett
Director of The Matrona
The Matrona's programs are directed by Traditional Midwife,
Whapio Diane Bartlett. Whapio has attended women in birth for
over 25 years, and has educated women in the Arts of Midwifery
and Healing for the past 17 years. She is also a Homeopathic
consultant and educator, a Mediator, and a Counselor for
women's concerns. Whapio is a Certified Chi Healer, and has
studied in China at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine
and at the Beijing Massage Hospital. Whapio is also certified in
Therapeutic Touch and Reiki, and has a long-standing background
in the making and use of herbal medicine.
Whapio speaks and writes frequently about Sacred Midwifery and
Returning Birth to the Family. She offers workshops on a myriad
of subjects to moms, midwives, and doulas. She also created
Compassionate Birthing, a prenatal education series offering the
rites of passage to parents wanting a transformative childbirth
preparation experience.
Whapio offers workshops for doulas, midwives, childbirth
educators and families, deepening the knowledge and blending
ancient wisdom with modern technology. She is currently writing
about the experience of labor and birth as an altered state.
